Stressed out?

I have not been out partying lately so I have started to read some magazines instead. I just find it funny when I read articles like this one. It is a list of things you should do to improve your health etc. But it just makes me even more stressed out because there are so many things on the list...you are suppose to take it easy and relax, do yoga, drink water, eat fruit, make our own müsli etc. It is just too much!

Babies, babies & babies...

Yesterday I went to visit Emmy and baby Lorenzo (4 weeks old).

He is so cute!

Then Mike and I went to Burger King and had the biggest burger in history before we picked my Mom up from the airport.

Look what she brought back. Happy Days! But it will be another 8 more months before I can drink it though...haha.

The local made Arrehucas dark rum, yumm!
Today the weather is beautiful. Sunny and nice. I just let the cats out. And I will probably let myself out in a minute or two for a walk.

Look at sleepy Cairo, she is a "sausage-cat".

Week 31 - Sports holiday - winter break

Week 31

On Wednesday I went to see Linn and Tuva. I also went to see Dad and Karin. In the afternoon Carl came to us and helped building the baby bed and nursing table.

She is so adorable!

Next step is to paint it white.

Yesterday I phoned the midwife at the hospital to find out the test result. And I did have a urine infection! That is what caused the contractions they believe. I have not been feeling the contractions now as much. So, that is good.

I have let the cats go outside for the first time all winter yesterday. They loved it! I have let them out again today. The weather is nice. It is +8 degrees C here in Sweden today.

Today I am going to do a bit of work. I was supposed to have done some yesterday, but I was too busy cleaning the house, and I just did not feel like it either. But today I really have to do some work...

This is the book that I am reading now "To give birth". I think it is important to know what is happening in your body during delivery. That way it might be easier to handle the pain.

Look what I got in the post. The students have made me lovely "get well" drawings. How sweet!

Cairo has been very affectionate lately.

Living with cats

I love our cats.

Now when I am at home more I get to see what they are up to all day.

Look what they have done to my plant...

Tequila loves to give my head a morning massage when she think its time for me to get up.

Yesterday I did a bit of working from home. I also went out for two walks. Emma and Ozzy joined me for one. The contractions feels a bit better now.

Today I am going to town to see Ida and I will also go past work to pick some things up.

Tomorrow I will visit Linn & Tuva in the morning, and afterwards I will go and see my Dad & Karin.

Anemia

Week 30

On Thursday I went for a scheduled appointment to the midwife. My blood test showed that I have iron anemia, so now I have to eat lots of iron tablets and food containing iron. That explains why I have been so tired lately.

On Friday I stayed home all day resting and eating. I have been watching the snooker; Welsh Open.

Yesterday we drove my Mom to Kalmar airport. It felt weird because I was suppose to have gone with her…Afterwards we went to IKEA. We bought a baby bed, a bath tub, baby chair, mattress etc. In the afternoon Annie came around for some tea and cakes and a short walk. I can still feel the contractions constantly but they are not as frequent now.

Mike hates being in big supermarkets and shops, can you see that? Hehe.

Today I have been to Kalmar. I met up with a group of girls that also are pregnant in and around week 25-31. We had some tea and cakes at “Kulzenska” coffee shop. It was really nice to meet some new people and to talk about our pregnancies. Afterwards I went to Ida’s place to see her and Annie. We played some cards and had a laugh.

Next week the students have their sport holiday so I am “off” work. I have a lot of things that needs to be done and prepared so I won’t be bored. There is always something that needs to be done/corrected etc. After the holiday the appraisals starts again. I will work for 6 more weeks before I quit. The plan is that my last day at work will be on the 13: th of April. Last week is Easter holiday so I don’t count that week (then it would have been 7 more working weeks), so my last day will actually be on the 4: th of April.

Mike got his Valentines gift a few days later ;)

Safety comes first!

My mission tomorrow is to unpack my bag that I packed for Gran Canaria :(

Happy Valentines Day = Trips to the hospital...

Mike got me a cake and flowers, aawe ;)

I just came back from the hospital. I had to spend last night there because I have experienced some contractions. I have been feeling them for a few days but yesterday they got more frequent.

I went to the hospital yesterday afternoon and they measured the CTG. It showed contractions every 2 minutes, so I got an injection of Bricanyl in my leg to stop them. The Doctor examined me and said that the cervix was fine. So I went home again.

2 hours later it started again, this time it was more intense. When Mike got back from work at 23 pm we went to the hospital again. This time the CTG showed that the contractions were more than twice as strong and they came every two minutes again. I got another injection of Bricanyl and then I stayed overnight. Not so romantic Valentines Day…

In the morning the contractions came back again, but this time not so frequent, like every 10 minutes of something. The doctors examined me again and the cervix was still fine, so they think that I might have a urine infection. I have been to the toilet constantly the past two days... I got penicillin to eat, hopefully that will calm the contractions down. I will find out the test results of the urine infection in a few days.

Now I will focus on relaxation. It feels a lot better to be sat down still. As soon as I move around the contractions gets more intense. I have not felt any pain, just discomfort. I know that the doctors are really good with handling and taking care of early born babies, but it is a lot better for the baby each day it stays inside the womb.

Unfortunately our trip to Gran Canaria will now be cancelled. I do not dare to go anywhere right now. I don’t think I would get a medical certificate to fly now anyway. There will be more times in life to go on holiday! Right now it is not up to me to decide, it is Miss/Mr Baby that is the boss.

Smoothie time!

Monday - Friday: Work as usual.
I went swimming with Linn on Thursday after work.(40 minutes = 1km)
In the afternoons after work this week I have been around shopping for baby stuff; some clothes, a nursing/diaper bag and some other bits and bobs. I have managed to get quite a lot second hand to great prices. You know me, I am a firm believer in recycling and re-using :) I still have a few more tings to get, but soon I am all prepared.

On Friday after work I went to Ida's place. Linn and Tuva was also there. We had some tea and cake.

Of course Leo-cat was joining us :)

Today I have been moving furniture around the house, preparing the baby's room etc. I am also cleaing the house and defrosting the freezer. Soon we are off to town to get the shopping for next week in.
I just made the most tasty smoothie ever! I have made many smoothies in my life (working in coffeeshops & bars) but this one has so far been the best!

Recipe: one banana (quite soft), a handful of blueberries (picked in the forests of Örsjö :), a teaspoon of honey (homemade in Orrefors) and a cup of milk. YUMM!

Look! REAL Duff beer :) Thanks Mattias!

It is important to get a lot of Omega 3-oil while you're pregnant. So it has been fish on the menu this week.

Week 29

Not so small anymore! The baby is growing fast. I fel a bit heavier now actually. I have gained 10-12 kilos and I can feel the baby kicking and poking inside of me all the time :) I still feel great though! Happy and energetic as usual :)

Klick here to watch a video that shows inside pregnancy week 28-37.

How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton. www.babycenter.com

How your life's changing:
Your baby's very active now. Your healthcare provider may ask you to spend some time each day counting kicks and will give you specific instructions on how to do this. Let your provider know if you ever notice that your baby is becoming less active. You may need a nonstress test or biophysical profile to check on your baby's condition.

Some old friends — heartburn and constipation — may take center stage now. The pregnancy hormone progesterone relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation, coupled with the crowding in your abdomen, slows digestion. Sluggish digestion can cause gas and heartburn — especially after a big meal — and contribute to constipation.

5 year engagement!

Yeah, the snow is definitely here to stay. This morning it is -26 degrees C outside. It is freezing!

Yesterday Mike and I celebrated our 5 year engagement day. Time goes so quick. What happened with “We will definitely be married within a year”?? haha. Oh well, it all comes down to money really. If we had the money, we would do it tomorrow. Properly! I want to have a BIG wedding, and those ones costs!

My fingers are starting so swell, so the ring is very tight fitting at the moment.

Mike and I went out for a 3-course meal at Restaurant Källaren Kronan. We ate:

Starter: Skagentoast (toasted bread with a prawn/dill/mayonnaise mix + salad & chanterelle soup.
Main: Fillet of beaf, with chili béarnaise sauce and rösti & Fillet of fish with vegetables, duchesse potato and a chive aioli.
Dessert: Chocolate pannacotta & Muscovadoparfait with raspberry sauce.

I was going to take some pictures of the food, but I was so hungry that I forgot, every time I remembered halfway into eating it, and then it did not look as good…hehe.
It was all lovely. Afterward we went to the cinema and we saw Mission Impossible 4 – Ghost Patrol. It was really good.

Yesterday daytime Carl was at our place and we decorated the baby’s room a bit. We put a border up on the wall, I painted the last of the room and also put a new curtain up.

Monday – Friday has been a normal working week.
I met up with Sofie for dinner at Dolce Vita on Monday after work. She and Christian have been in Thailand getting engaged :) Congratulations again to you two!
Linn and I went swimming on Friday. 50 minutes of nice exercise.

Last Sunday I went skiing in Örsjö. They have made the tracks so that is good.
I also went to see Ida, Linn and Tuva at Linn’s place.

Tuva and I

I have had some trouble with the new car. The gearbox + the handbrake freeze. Good thing the boys can help out :)
